Venture Funding – Can An Entrepreneur get Venture Funding before their Product is even made?
March 25th, 2011
Can an entrepreneur get venture funding even before their product is made? Well I never would have thought so, but there are companies that offer assistance in these kinds of situations. A company such as Kickstarters as well as many others, that if they believe in your product idea, they will place it on an internet site and ask what the consumers feel about the product and if they want to buy it. In some cases, orders begin to flow in before the product is made. If consumers will buy a product that does not exist yet, then investors will pile in for a piece of the action. These investors or groups will then supply the needed venture funds to have the product manufactured and marketed to the public.
Companies like these have given many new entrepreneurs a first hand shot to venture funding as well as to see how their product will succeed in the market. The hardest part of this process is that you will need to know what all expenses will be and the final cost involved to get the product to the customers, then to price it accordingly. If you do not have all this figured out to the penny, then you can end up taking a fast nose dive and not make any money. Your management team should be experts in this field as well, to make sure the funds being requested are true and in full.
Venture funding can be risky if you let your emotions get away from you. The investors will want a small share in your business venture but you cannot just give the business away. Venture funding can also come from other sources. Never feel that if the first one will not help, then the second, third or fourth will. Ideas have been funded for centuries, which is how our country has prospered over so many others. An idea, a product or a service that is different, may take a lot of convincing, but remember the light bulb was shunned away for years before it became a reality.
