Can I Have a Good Credit Score After Bankruptcy?
January 12th, 2012
Yes, you can have a good credit score after bankruptcy, just probably not immediately after. Now, a high credit score is really going to be something up like seven hundred or above. It may seem like you can never get that until your bankruptcy ages off your report, which it won’t do for a very long time, but after some time has passed and you’ve built up some positive payment history, that black mark matters less and less. The key is building up that history. After about two years you can have an acceptable score again, and it’s not impossible to have a great score within three years if you work hard on rebuilding.
